This doesnt come in the form of DLC and instead requires you to buy either the Deluxe or Collectors Edition of RAGE 2. Presumably it will be available to buy as DLC at some point, or may be unlocked later, but if you want to get the BFG 9000 straight away - you need to get the Rage 2 Deluxe or Collector's Edition. It was revealed last year that the BFG 9000 weapon from Doom would be in Rage 2, where it was confirmed to be part of the Rage 2 Deluxe and Collector's Editions. This was confirmed by Bethesda community manager MortalEmperor on Reddit - who simply notes that "at launch, the BFG will only be available as a premium item in the Deluxe and Collector's Editions." Unfortunately, for anyone looking to get hold of the Rage but who doesn't want to spend the extra $20 on the Deluxe version (or a lot more for Collector's), it's confirmed - the BFG is currently exclusive to the special edition versions of Rage 2. There are plenty of examples of games whose special editions or pre-order bonuses merely gave immediate access to a special weapon, but it could still be picked up later for standard edition folks. Unfortunately, it seems that the RAGE 2 BFG will only be available in the Deluxe Editon and Collectors Edition at least on launch.
The one thing that wasn't revealed was if this special and sought-after weapon would be entirely exclusive to the more expensive Rage 2 special editions, or whether it was merely unlocked from the start - and so could be found within Rage 2 during the course of the game, if players wanted to get it. The BFG is a gun with a 30-year history that is beloved by gamers everywhere and its no surprise that its coming to RAGE 2 as part of the Deluxe Edition and Collectors Edition. When the Rage 2 Deluxe Edition and Collector's Edition were both announced, players may have noticed the conspicuous inclusion of Doom's BFG 9000 as a bonus for those versions - as you can see in the promotional ad above.
